Observer training
process

Becoming an observer is a straightforward and rewarding journey, and we’re here to make the process as easy as possible. Our training program ensures you’re fully prepared to join a race, with support at every step. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Get Your Membership and License

Start by purchasing your membership and license here. This gives you access to the resources and training you’ll need.

Step 2: Complete the Online Observer Theory Test

Complete the online novice observer theory test. Our comprehensive rulebook is available to help you, and we can provide you with a mentor to answer any questions about the racecourse, procedures, or anything else you’d like to know.

Step 3: Practical Training with an Assessor

Once you’ve completed the online theory test, it’s time for practical training. A qualified assessor will guide you through essential maneuvers, including skier pickup techniques, handling the orange flag, and other key responsibilities.

Step 4: Complete Your First Race as a Novice Observer

Put your training into action by participating in your first race as a novice observer. This is your chance to experience the excitement of waterski racing with the confidence and skills you’ve developed.
