driver training
process

Becoming a driver is an exciting and rewarding journey, and we’re here to make the process as simple and supportive as possible. Our assessment program ensures you’re fully prepared to take part in your first race. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Get Your Membership and License

Start by purchasing your membership and license here. This gives you access to the resources and training you’ll need.

Step 2: Complete the Online Driver

Theory Test

Take the RBDA (Race Boat Driver Assessment) online theory test. Our rulebook is available to help guide you through this process, and we can connect you with a mentor to answer any questions about racecourses, procedures, or anything else you’d like to know.

Step 3: Practical Training with an Assessor

Once you’ve completed the theory test, it’s time for practical training. A qualified assessor will guide you through essential maneuvers, including race starts, skier pickup techniques, and general race safety procedures.

Step 4: Complete Your First Race as a Novice Observer

Apply your training by taking part in your first race as a novice driver. With the skills and confidence you’ve gained, you’ll be ready to hit the water and enjoy the thrill of waterski racing.
